I am married to Michael and have five children, five grandchildren and two sisters. I was born in Cootamundra in 1952 to Deb and Jack Rogan and went to school at the local Catholic primary and secondary school until Year 10. My last two years of schooling were completed at OLMC Goulburn.
After school I nursed at St Vincent’s Darlinghurst and then studied at UNSW. I married Michael in 1974 and together we moved to Armidale before settling in Maitland where we now live. I worship at Campbell’s Hill and am a reader, cantor and special minister.
I have a BA (UNSW), Grad Dip Social Administration (UoN), Masters Health Planning (UNSW), PhD (University of Sydney). I was employed at The University of Newcastle for over twenty years before retiring, and I maintain a connection through a Conjoint Lecturer appointment in the School of Humanities and Social Science. My background includes nursing, health sociology, and health policy and Church relations.
Over the course of my life I have been very active in school and health related fields. I served several terms as either secretary or president of three Maitland Parents & Friends Associations. In addition I served as president or secretary of the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle Parents and Friends Association, was a member of the NSW Catholic Education Commission, and Secretary Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle Education Advisory Board. I also served two terms on the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle Catholic Care of the Aged Advisory Board
Currently I hold an appointment on the Hunter New England Local Health District Board, and chair the Board’s Health Care Quality Committee. I also chair the Maitland Health Committee, volunteer at St Vincent de Paul Maitland, am a member of Friends of Grossman House, a member of Australian Catholic Historical Association, assist with grandchildren, and try to spend time reading (especially medieval who-dunnits) and travelling.
